Norfolk Coast - July 25

Every July we head to the beautiful Norfolk coastline for a short break with our wider family. Cromer has become our anchor point for our trips due to central location to explore up and down the coastline.

For a change, I’d taken the big camera bag on this trip giving me access to wide, standard and tele focal lengths. I often take just a single lens on holiday to save weight but this can be a little restrictive in certain situations. I recently purchased the Tamron 17-28 wide angle lens (#AD) and gave it a really good test for the first time on this trip. The majority of the shots in the gallery below were taken with the Tamron lens and I feel I’m starting to get to grips with making the extreme wide perspective look natural.

We visited a few of the regular coastal locations for walks and took a trip inland one evening to visit the broads, ending up at Thurne to shoot the windpumps. To end the trip we stopped at the extraordinary Old Vicarage Garden in East Ruston, spending a few hours exploring the 32-acre masterpiece.

I think the picture of the deer hiding in the grass (taken at Thurne) with only the ears showing is my favourite from the trip. I’m not sure what type of deer these were, Google suggests Chinese Water Deer, leave a comment if you can confirm this?

A big gallery of images from the trip are below, I’ve tried to keep these in chronological order, click to enlarge and swipe to scroll on mobile:
