North Devon Photography Trip - September 2020

What a crazy year it has been so far! I had many plans for 2020 but nearly all had to be cancelled when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. The content of this website ground to a halt along with most of my photography activities. During lockdown I was still working full time from home so had to put my photography on hold for 6 months.

During September, we finally managed to get a holiday week away at the coast. Having previously booked the flat for May, we were lucky to have been able to rearrange for the middle of September. We chose to spend the week in Ilfracombe to give us a central location on the North Devon Coast.

The weather forecast for the week was quite mixed, and it turned out that we had a good mixture of weather with both bright sunshine and heavy rain. We'd not previously been to Ilfracombe but the central location of the flat proved to be great for both the holiday and the photographer trips. Because of the Covid situation Ilfracombe was surprisingly busy for September when would normally have empty beaches and quiet coastal footpaths we found that it was busier than normal which was great see after all the businesses had been struggling all summer.

Most of the photographs I took during the week we're taken during the day, but I did manage a couple of evening outings to some of the local beaches and around the Ilfracombe harbour.

I've put together a group of photographs below which show the best views and the best conditions that we experienced during the week. we will certainly be heading down to the North Devon coast again having got to know the area better and found lots of really interesting and photogenic locations.
