A week in Pembrokshire - Landscape Photography in Pembroke | Wales

I have just got back from a brilliant week spent in Pembrokeshire. It was my first trip to Pembroke so I was a little unsure what to expect although I had heard the scenery compared to Cornwall many times. The coastline is very similar and has similar geology, the coastal path runs right around Pembrokeshire (diverting for the military firing range at Castlemartin) so it is possible to get to many secluded beaches and bays which are not accessible from a car park. We found Pembrokeshire to be a great location for a holiday, you are spoilt for choice for beautiful beaches, coastal walks, good pubs and uniquely the amount of castles!

Although this was more of holiday than a photography trip I still managed to combine the two (along with a round of golf at the stunning St David’s City Golf Club near to Whitesands Bay). Our accommodation was in Milford Haven which gave good access to both the northern and southern parts of Pembrokeshire so we managed to clock up a lot of miles during the week heading to different parts of the national park. The area around Milford Haven is very industrial with many gas storage facilities and refineries. Some may class these as a blotch on the landscape but I found the scale of these quite fascinating against the backdrop of the Pembrokeshire scenery. We were quite lucky with the weather which provided pure blue skies most days which was great for the holiday but the empty skies were a little less interesting photographically.

Here are my favourite shots from the week >
