Loch an Eilean Castle Rothiemurchus Estate Cairngorms - Scotland

Late afternoon sunlight at Loch an Eilein in the Cairngorms National Park. The loch is situated in part of the Rothiemurchus estate not far from Aviemore and features a castle in the middle of the loch which dates back to 14th Century, the water levels in the loch were raised to help logging operations in the 19th century over the top of the causeway so the castle is now cut off from the shores of the loch. Loch an Eilein was voted Britains best picnic spot in 2010 and the walks around the loch are fantastic. The mountains of Creag Fhiaclach & Creag Dhubh sit in the background.
